Hats are probably my favorite thing to knit, especially for gifts. For the most part, they're easy to size and they knit up quickly. I'm familiar with the typical increases and decreases used and have a few go-to patterns when I'm stuck on what to knit next. It's no wonder I've knit seven over the past few months and have another on the needles right now.
This first hat is just about the cutest thing I'd ever seen. The Berry Baby Hat is too cute for words. It's simple, cute and perfect for using up those odd balls of acrylic in my stash. I knit this purple version for a friend at work with a new baby girl. Her mom loved it and sent me a few photos of her wearing it but I don't have them uploaded onto my computer.

In an effort to use up more of my Malabrigo in Frank Ochre, I decided to make a Star Crossed Slouchy Beret. I messed up on the pattern in some spots but I don't really mind. It makes it my own. It only took half a skein so of course I had plenty of yarn left for other projects.

As part of my effort to buy less yarn, I decided to whip up a hat using some of the abundance of Vanna's Choice in my stash. I picked a pretty red-orange color and searched high and low for a project that would tolerate this acrylic. I stumbled upon the Trinity Stitch Hat and decided to give it a try. I'm not sure how I feel about the hat and the decreases were confusing in the pattern. Maybe I'll give it away...

Stay tuned for part three (more hats) tomorrow!
