These past 2 months I have been up to a lot. I say it all the time, but I really and truly have been working my little butt off. I planned for and had a friend stay over for a few days last week and I'm now in the midst of packing for my trip back home to New York in a few days. I feel like this year has flown by so fast already.
Last week, my friend Meredith came to visit me for a few days. They really went too quickly but I had a lot of fun and I am already itching to see her again. (By the way, I am totally stealing photos from her blog post about the trip because, like an idiot, I didn't even grab my camera her whole time down.)
Meredith flew in on Thursday morning and we went to Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. We had iced au laits and beignets while listening to one of the most entertaining street performers I've ever encountered. Then we decided to walk the few blocks from the cafe to two fabulous little shops: The Quarter Stitch and The Librairie Shop. While a terrible storm and tornado warnings were looming on the horizon, we perused shelves upon shelves of amazing old and interesting books. The Quarter Stitch was probably one of my favorite yarn shops to just walk around and touch EVERYTHING. And not only that, but they have a SHOP DOG! His name was Leif Erickson and he was just about the cutest thing ever. I wound up buying 2 skeins of Malabrigo Silky Merino in Smoke (Raveled), a skein of Malabrigo Merino Worsted in Alpine Pearl (Raveled) and a skein of Blue Sky Alpacas Dyed Cotton in Cumin (Raveled). We then took a carriage ride around the French Quarter and after befriending the mule, took a horrible picture with it. We wound up having to cut our fun short and head home while the sky opened up and rained on our day.
Our next few days were spent knitting and going to Starbucks (c'mon, you didn't see that coming?) and going to parks. We showed Meredith the swamp, ate some yummy Mexican food, and knit the Elizabeth hat (Raveled) and some Toast armwarmers (Raveled). The weekend definitely went too quickly and I was sad to see her go, but I've been trying to plan for a trip up to Ohio to visit her sometime later this year.
I've got so much more to share, but I'll save that for another day. I really should be packing my bags to go to New York on Tuesday. I'll be there for a week and I am so so excited. I haven't been home in sixteen months and I miss it.
Hope you all have a wonderful Easter (if you celebrate) or a lovely lazy Sunday (if you don't). ♥
