For the millionth time in my life

I am entirely frustrated with a project. I have ripped it out and re-started a million times already and twice have made it very far, only to screw up when I got over-confident and rip the whole thing out AGAIN in sheer frustration. I haven't touched the project since, but let me say, as much as this project is making me mad, I am still loving it and it is my first lace project ever.

I found this survey on another knitting blog and really wanted to do it:
Bold for stuff you've done, italics for stuff you plan to do one day, and normal for stuff you're not planning on doing.

All it took was some persuasion

It's more than obvious that I am a terrible blogger. But will I let that stop me? Never. I wouldn't even be a knitter if I stopped just because I was terrible at first, and if I weren't a knitter, you wouldn't be sitting here reading this.

These past 2 months I have been up to a lot. I say it all the time, but I really and truly have been working my little butt off. I planned for and had a friend stay over for a few days last week and I'm now in the midst of packing for my trip back home to New York in a few days. I feel like this year has flown by so fast already.

Last week, my friend Meredith came to visit me for a few days. They really went too quickly but I had a lot of fun and I am already itching to see her again. (By the way, I am totally stealing photos from her blog post about the trip because, like an idiot, I didn't even grab my camera her whole time down.)

Meredith flew in on Thursday morning and we went to Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. We had iced au laits and beignets while listening to one of the most entertaining street performers I've ever encountered. Then we decided to walk the few blocks from the cafe to two fabulous little shops: The Quarter Stitch and The Librairie Shop. While a terrible storm and tornado warnings were looming on the horizon, we perused shelves upon shelves of amazing old and interesting books. The Quarter Stitch was probably one of my favorite yarn shops to just walk around and touch EVERYTHING. And not only that, but they have a SHOP DOG! His name was Leif Erickson and he was just about the cutest thing ever. I wound up buying 2 skeins of Malabrigo Silky Merino in Smoke (Raveled), a skein of Malabrigo Merino Worsted in Alpine Pearl (Raveled) and a skein of Blue Sky Alpacas Dyed Cotton in Cumin (Raveled). We then took a carriage ride around the French Quarter and after befriending the mule, took a horrible picture with it. We wound up having to cut our fun short and head home while the sky opened up and rained on our day.

Our next few days were spent knitting and going to Starbucks (c'mon, you didn't see that coming?) and going to parks. We showed Meredith the swamp, ate some yummy Mexican food, and knit the Elizabeth hat (Raveled) and some Toast armwarmers (Raveled). The weekend definitely went too quickly and I was sad to see her go, but I've been trying to plan for a trip up to Ohio to visit her sometime later this year.

I've got so much more to share, but I'll save that for another day. I really should be packing my bags to go to New York on Tuesday. I'll be there for a week and I am so so excited. I haven't been home in sixteen months and I miss it.

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter (if you celebrate) or a lovely lazy Sunday (if you don't). ♥

Her Morning Elegance

I'm just popping in to say hi! I'm 3 inches away from being done with Gus' hat and next time I write, I will have photos to post.

I wanted to share something that makes me smile everytime I see it. This video blows me away each and every time. It is stop motion at it's very best.

2 weeks...

I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's day (I know, I know!! I'm two weeks late on that). My life has been non-stop crazy ever since my last post. I haven't even had much time to talk to my mother for more than a minute or so.

I've been quite lazy with my knitting. I'm about halfway done with Gus' hat and while cleaning out the art room (in progress) I found about 4 other projects I had completely forgotten about. Oops, I guess I have a problem with startitis.

So currently on the needles? Let's count them, shall we?
1) Gus' hat
2) Toast #1
3) Toast #2
4) A super special secret surprise!!!
5) A scarf I started for Liz AGES ago
6) Drop stitch scarf for Casey that is mere inches from being done!

And what have I done all afternoon? I watched Penelope and ate two pieces of chocolate I received in the mail yesterday as a late Valentine's day present from my mum. Now that I have the house to myself, I may just finish a project or two. I did have plans for this afternoon but it seems I am being stood up. I promise, I will have photos to post next time. Until then, add me on Ravelry!

FINALLY

I am finally finished with the scarf I had been putting off for months and months. I improvised my own patten for a Ravenclaw scarf. Finally finished the last stripe and fringe tonight at knitting club!! I didn't have my camera, but the boyfriend was nice enough to take a grainy cell phone picture of me wearing it before I gave it away. More pictures to come soon, but for now, enjoy.

Shameless Promotion

There is this awesome new book out for kids called The Super Duper Kid Fantastic by Dominick Blanda. It is available on Target.com, Amazon.com, and AuthorHouse.com.

The author and illustrator, Dominick Blanda, is a good friend of mine and I think this book deserves some more publicity. He is a wonderful husband, parent, friend and boss (and I should know). Please check his book out. It's a wonderful addition to any children's library (and some of us grown-ups can learn from it, too).

This is a story about an uncommon young boy
Who is quite different in his own special way.
The school kids know him as Kenneth Francis:
The boy who doesn't run, or laugh, or play.
But when the school kids are placed in a sticky situation Kenneth becomes:
THE SUPER, DUPER KID FANTASTIC!
... A shy boy who just might save the day.
